1.THROW PILLOWS

We’re always saying how easy it is to bring new life to a room simply by switching out throw pillows. The right combination of throw pillows will take your living room to the next level and draw all eyes towards that beautiful sofa. Try using contrasting colors, patterns, and textures to get that designer look.

2.UNIQUE END TABLE

Coffee tables and end tables are a necessity in all living rooms to give you a place to put down your drink glass, favorite book, and of course the TV remote. Rooms with matched sets end up looking predictable and boring. Instead, choose a unique end table to add interest and style to the room. Don’t be afraid to use different shapes and mix materials such as wood with metal, or stone.

3.ACCENT CHAIR

There seems to be a disconnect between designer living rooms and furniture stores. Many times, furniture stores display matching sets together leading you to buying the whole set. This is a thing of the past. Today, designers would strongly encourage a mix-and-match collection of furniture. Use coordinating accent chairs with a different arm style, wood accents, or contrasting fabric to add interest and depth to your room.

4.GREENERY

We bet if you go back and take a look at your design inspiration photos on Houzz or Pinterest you’d see plants and floral arrangements in each. This may seem like a simple tip but adding greenery to a space will give it that final touch and give life to your space. While real plants and fresh cut flowers are best, not everyone has a green thumb so, luckily there are plenty of beautiful faux plant options!

5.ACCESSORIES AND DECOR

Designing a room can be exhausting. By the time the main pieces are chosen many people stop shopping and feel the room is finished. But does it really feel complete? Our guess is probably not. Adding accessories and décor to your space is just as important as the main pieces and gives a room personality. Aside from art work, throw pillows, and table lamps, designers love to use trays, baskets, decorative bowls, and vases. Trays are a great way to arrange loose items on the coffee table while baskets give you extra storage to hide clutter. For a designer look, place a cute candle, a couple books and a decorative bowl or object on top of the tray.
